Lainie's got a new do!

As many of you know, I was never real girly growing up. I loved to run around and play sports with my older brothers - I was a tomboy plain and simple. I met Ragan in college and he called me "Farmer Brown" because I dressed in such baggy boy clothes (my maiden name is Brown). So I started to get more girly but was never quite as up on styles and hair stuff as most of my friends.

Okay, so jump ahead 15 years and now I have a girl of my own after having three great little boys and I find myself trying not to continue the lack of girly stuff in Lainie's life as I did with mine. Thanks to my many ABQ friends, they got me started with tons of cute girl clothes and a load of bows and such. Ragan's mom is continually buying Lainie cute girly things too. So, this past week I decided I have to try new things and found a hair blog with the cutest style for little girls with short hair and I tried it. So, long story short - I tried a new style and I think I did "OK" for my first try. We are keeping her hair short in back while we wait for the sides to finally grow in and catch up, so I have limited choices.

Fun at Mount Graham

We went to Thatcher for Labor Day Weekend and had so much fun!!! We went up to Mount Graham and picked apples at the orchard and then drove up to Arcadia and had a picnic lunch. The kids loved every second of it and had a great time with Grandma, Grandpa and some of their cousins! The weather was perfect too!

Our Little Engineer

Once again Nash has shown us how smart and amazing he is. He got an Erector set for Christmas and the other day he decided to build the helicopter. It took him a couple of days to do it between school and homework - he would just tinker here and there and he did it! It's a pretty awesome helicopter too! It has a motor that makes the thing move and it's just plain cool. Here it is!

After Nash finished the helicopter, Ragan and I were in awe and wondering what on earth we can get him next to keep him challenged since the Erector sets are one of the more complicated buliding toys out there. I told Ragan, you'll just have to start teaching him how to do woodworking next.

Mama Got a Brand New . . .

What???

We've decided it is time to graduate from being a minivan family, especially since we will be moving to Utah where there will be plenty of snow to get through and mountains to climb for a lot of camping and fishing. Ragan's been quite the man driving around a minivan for 4 years now and we are ready to move up to the next level of family vehicles. Plus, I'm not a minivan mom anymore - which I always swore I would never be anyway. We loved our minivan and it will be missed - it served us well!

It's been an adjustment driving "The Beast" compared to our little minivan, but we are having fun and can't wait to take it camping!

Logan is 4 years old!

My little boy is growing up too fast - Logan is 4 years old. Crazy!!! We had a quiet little family party at the house. If you can't tell from the pics he likes Spiderman.

Logan and I looked at Spiderman cake pictures online and I decided that I would try to make him one myself. Our day went really well and I had the cake made (from scratch) by mid- morning and then I don't know where the time went, but it was getting close to dinner time and I realized I hadn't decorated the cake yet, let alone frost it. The cake wasn't as professional looking as I'd have liked, but I decorated it in less than 20 minutes and had no black food coloring so I tried to make my own. So here are the results and Logan thought it was AWESOME and that is all that matters.

Here are a few things that I LOVE about Logan:

• Logan is so sweet and has such a tender heart!
• Logan is so easy going and doesn't get upset by much!
• Logan is so kind and shares so well with his brothers and sister!
• Logan is constantly giving me hugs or kisses without any reason! He just runs up and surprises me with a hug or kiss. I Love It!

Some things that Logan is INTERESTED in right now:

• Logan really likes to play Lego Indiana Jones on the xbox and has become a fan of Indiana Jones. His birthday was going to be Indiana theme but I couldn't find any bedding so we went with Spiderman. It's so cute though, Logan will walk around humming the Indiana Jones theme song.
• Logan really likes Spiderman!
• Logan's favorite foods are cheeseburgers and cheese crisps.

I am so grateful that Logan is a part of our family! He is such a sweet and fun boy!!!

Jacob gets a treat everyday from his kindergarten teacher if he stays on Green for good behavior. One day he came out to the car with two gummy bears for staying on green for the day. I told him to go ahead and eat them but he informed me that he was saving them for his brothers. So he hands one to Logan and I commented, "Honey, if you give your brothers your candy, then there won't be any left for you. Go ahead and eat your other one, you earned it." He then gets teary-eyed and says, "But Mom, I want to give it to Nash. I want to be nice and share." I was so overcome with happiness that I think I got a little teary-eyed myself and proceeded to tell him how proud I was of him and how awesome that was that he wanted to be nice and share his candy. So when we got home, he asked for his after school snack, and I surprised him with a fudge bar from the freezer and once again told him how proud I was of him.
