Yellowstone ~ Day Two

July 15th, 2011 ~ Our second day of vacation, we got up and at 'em so we could fit a lot in for our day.
First thing of the day, breakfast of course.

Lainie watching as Ragan cuts up a watermelon for breakfast.
She's such a sweetie, even with her bedhead.

Kiddos playing outside the house as we load up everything for our adventure.

We decided to travel the lower loop of Yellowstone.
Our first stop was on the Firehole Loop, at Firehole Falls.

This is where we had lunch.
Spent some time getting souvenirs at all the gift shops as well.

Posing on one of the "tour buses."
We thought they looked pretty cool!

After Old Faithful, we continued on the loop down to West Thumb. Lainie took a nap in the car while Grandpa stayed with her.
The rest of us hiked around looking at the smaller geysers and Yellowstone Lake.

Whatcha lookin' at Nash and Jacob??

I just thought this was kinda cool and unusual!

More wildlife.

I thought the buffalo were so cool
and some of 'em were big ole beasts!

My handsome man posing for me with the buffalo.

This elk was so beautiful!
We were able to get pretty close too!

Among all our wildlife sightings, we pulled over along with a large group and saw a mama grizzly with her two cubs - through binoculars of course.

We also caught sight of a black bear cub off the side of the road.

It was just too cool to describe - just coming upon all these amazing creatures and the beautiful scenery!!!

Enjoyed an ice cream and headed back to the house.
It was a long, fun day!!!

Yellowstone Trip - July 2011

For our 2011 Summer Vacation we decided to go to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons with our family and Ragan's parents. So begins our adventure!

Day One ~ July 14th. We headed up to Island Park, Idaho, where we were renting a house. We stopped in Idaho Falls to see the temple. It was so pretty, even with the construction around the temple landscape.

We took a scenic route and stopped by Mesa Falls on our way.

We finally made it to "The Hideaway."
It was such a nice place to stay for our trip.

Jacob, Lainie, and Logan playing games upstairs.

Nash chillin' and watching TV.

We just spent the rest of our day relaxing and getting settled in.
Then we enjoyed a yummy steak dinner at the Island Park Lodge .

We'll be Comin' 'Round the Mountain

During the Fourth of July weekend, we went on a drive up American Fork Canyon and checked out some new places. Ragan had heard about this lake, so we drove up the smallest, scariest mountain road that I have ever been on. Not sure how he got our Beast Suburban up there, but he did and I think I have quite a few more gray hairs from the drive.

It was beautiful!!!

So pretty - too bad we didn't bring our fishing poles.

More gorgeous views!

Beautiful views in literally every direction!!

Our kiddos after the long journey up the hill.

Ragan and the kids on our little hike.

Hiking along - so green and beautiful!!!

Love the aspens

Still snow up there at the beginning of July!
Crazy!

It was a fun drive out and about enjoying the beauty of the mountains!!!!
